Do I have to have an agent to submit?

Absolutely NOT! Please visit our submissions page for further information on how to submit your work.

May I submit my poetry or short story?

No.

Does Boutique Publications accept multiple submissions?

We do not. As a smaller publishing company we can not spend valuable time and resources chasing a book that may already be sold.

Does Boutique Publications pay advances?

No, we do however, offer a generous royalty percentage depending on the manuscript. And remember, an advance is merely an up front portion essentially borrowed against future royalties. Authors would not get another check until book sales exceeded the original amount received.

How are authors paid?

Authors will have a choice of PayPal® payments or a company check.

Does Boutique Publications require authors to pay any fees to be published?

No, we do not; we are a royalty paying e-publishing house, not a vanity press. The only expense to the author is copyrighting of their work(s). Boutique Publications handles proof reading, editing, cover design, layout and ISBN number.

Do authors have to help market their books?

Yes, we will market on our end via search engine optimization, press releases, a Bio of our authors on our site, fresh content on our site, promotions, on going contests, banner ads, forums, placement in our online bookstore and more. If you hope to reach a bigger audience than your close friends and family, you will need to market your work as well, we can give you some suggestions; however the ultimate success of your book(s) will be from a team effort.

Can you suggest some ideas for self promotion?

Below are a few suggestions:

  • Email all of your contacts, word of mouth is still the strongest marketing tool out there
  • Create and maintain your own blog
  • Create an Authors website, even a one page site will do, as long as it has your bio and an email address fans can use to contact you
  • Actively participate in forums and add a link to your signature (Do not spam as this will give both the book and the company a bad reputation)
  • Have business cards made up promoting your book and distribute them
  • Contact your local news paper to ask if the would like to do a story on you with a “local author slant” or for a “human interest” story (local television stations as well)
  • Immediately contact us if someone of interest gives your book a good review
  • Write and submit articles

Why is your title “The Brown Eyed Girl C.E.O.”?

While I take my business quite seriously I also decided to go into publishing because books are a fun filled passion of mine. And so I decided to forgo the usual title of “C.E.O.” and add a little something extra to it, something a little fun. I heard “Brown eyed girl” by Van Morrison, on the radio the day I decided to start my company and it made me smile, like it always does and that’s when I decided to use it in my title.
